Clandeboye Road Recreational Area

This project involved the development of a play park, grass pitch and MUGA (multi-use games area) on an existing green space within a built-up area on Bangor’s Clandeboye Road.

Level platforms were created on a sloping site for all three elements of the scheme. Earth banks were installed and no retention was required.

Fencing was installed and existing private roads were resurfaced at two sides of the site. Elsewhere boundaries comprising trees and hedging were left unchanged.

An existing foul sewer that had bisected the play park was diverted in negotiation with NI Water to enable new drainage to be provided for all three facilities.

As well as contributing generally to the design team, engineers from Taylor & Boyd designed fencing, kerbs, roads, car parking, and link paths with drop kerbs that met DDA requirements and facilitated young families and pushchairs.
