Crowne Plaza, Santry

 

Design and build project: a 114 bedroom extension to the 4-star Crowne Plaza Hotel. In addition to the 5-storey Holiday Inn, the works included a large multi-use state-of-the-art conferencing and banqueting facility, a basement car park and a multi-deck above ground car park, replacing surface car park lost due to the extension.

The requirement for a basement allowed traditional pad strip foundations to be adopted unlike the Crowne Plaza hotel which is piled. The structure of the Holiday Inn Express comprises a reinforced concrete frame with flat slabs, avoiding the need for downstand beams, easing service runs and minimizing floor to floor heights. The multi-deck car park structure comprise long span steel cell-beams with a semi-pre-cast concrete deck, thus avoiding internal columns and easing parking and traffic flow.
