We have exciting opportunities for a number of Civil Engineers to join our Belfast office, ranging from recent graduate to senior engineer level. See the careers page for details.

Jennymount Methodist Church

This project involved the provision of a new-build church and adjoining hall to replace an existing building that had been irreparably damaged by fire.

The main church is square with two sections, each with a portal frame establishing the structure; a central frame is sprung off the top to form a small ‘tower-like’ spire. A gallery was created around two sides, developed in timber and supported on steel beams. The adjoining church hall is 2-storey and incorporates precast concrete hollow-core units supported on a braced steel frame. The buildings are founded on traditional pad and strip foundations, some of which are on top of trench fill to suitable bearing levels.

The Project Engineer had a central role from early scheme design through to the structure’s completion on site. This included organising the topographical survey and site investigations, detailed design, supervising and checking all drawings, attendance at site meetings and site inspections, and as the general day-to-day contact for queries for the duration of construction.
