Enhancement of Clones village
Refurbishment and extension of Clones Canal Stores; Cara Street Park with play equipment and fitness trail; angling stands on four lakes; upgrading of a section of National Road; car parking, paths, landscaping, traffic calming measures, tourist information signage/trail; street lighting; floodlighting of public buildings.
Joint project between Fermanagh District and Monaghan County Councils to raise the profile of the area in line with aspirational plans to restore the Ulster Canal. TAYLOR+ BOYD assembled a team of specialist designers and was successful in securing the appointment as Project Manager in an open public competition. We dealt with a number of stakeholders and funders and worked with MCC to develop their brief within a set budget.
Construction was procured as three contracts (park, stores, angling stands), which added complexity. Some unsafe and redundant structures were demolished. Clones Canal Stores required remedial attention before conversion to an attractive community facility with restaurant, kitchen, meeting spaces, tourist information centre and toilet facilities.
TAYLOR+BOYD remained in regular communication with the many interested stakeholders to ensure that the project was delivered to meet their expectations and within the stringent budget and programme requirements of the Funders.
