Remodelling of a station on the main Belfast/Dublin railway line: up-to-date facilities, new footbridge, pedestrian entrance and parking
Platforms were extended and an enclosed pedestrian bridge was designed to link them. Passenger facilities and staff accommodation were refurbished and enlarged. New entrances and footpaths were created for vehicles and pedestrians. Parking for cars and buses was remodelled in space created with retaining walls. The station remained fully operational by carefully planning work around the tracks. The new bridge was prefabricated to TAYLOR+BOYD’s structural design and lifted into place during night-time closure.
