Banbridge Bus Station
This project involved the design of bus stands with feature canopy; a kiosk waiting room and ticket office; a bus turning area; and staff car parking.
T&B’s original design for development on an uncontaminated brownfield site was modified in response to the client’s acquisition of additional land. We used AutoTrack software to inform layout dimensions and the placing of architectural elements with safe clearances and traffic flow.
Foundations were designed to straddle existing services. The design was modified to accommodate structural debris that had not featured in the initial below-ground survey. Storm and foul drainage were connected to local systems with approval from NIWater.
Mini-piles support steel sleeves with bespoke glulam columns of cylindrical timber. Extending through a dog-leg bend for 50m, the roof structure is a triangular tessellation of notched timber with standing-seam trocal.
Asphalt and concrete hard-standing facilities were created for bus parking and turning. T&B also managed signage and lighting.
