Crusaders FC, East & West Stands
Taylor & Boyd designed and managed the construction of foundations and superstructure for the new East & West spectator stands, each providing spectator seating for 400; changing facilities; toilets; and turnstiles.
We commissioned site investigations and confirmed that there were no underground services requiring diversion. As ground quality varies across the site, piling was used for the north-east stand and ground-bearing foundations at the south-west. Floodlight bases were also on spread footings.
The stands are constructed of steel frames with pre-cast terraces for seating. Cantilever steelwork supports roofs of lightweight metal sheeting.
A new 3G synthetic pitch was developed with recommended run-off, pitch-surround fencing, handrails – all certified (along with existing handrails) to SportNI / IFA / FIFA standards.
Paths and access were integrated with the existing scheme.
Facilities were designed to meet DDA requirements and incorporate family-friendly enclosures.
At the client’s request the stands were designed to be dismountable, should the need arise to relocate the club.
