Lakeside Walk, Monaghan
The scheme involved the construction of a 5-storey concrete-framed retail and residential building on an existing brownfield site (previously a garage) and over an existing culvert overflow. The site is directly beside St Peter’s lake in Monaghan town centre, Republic of Ireland.
Foundations for the heavily contaminated and subsequently remediated site, were designed as non-displacement piles and ground beams supporting a suspend ground floor and column for a reinforced concrete frame.
All floors within the super-structural frame of this apartment block were of ‘flat slab’ construction in reinforced concrete and column locations were designed to integrate with the apartment layouts to optimise the residential area to the full.
