Larne Grammar School Pitches
Synthetic hockey pitches and tennis courts. Works involved the full design of a FIH-standard hockey pitch complete with flood lights, fencing, drainage and groundworks on the site of a disused and overgrown grass pitch. The project also included three tennis courts designed for occasional use as a MUGA. One boundary was designed as a tennis practice wall.
The hockey pitch required a full drainage system, stone infill, an engineered base and a sand-dressed synthetic carpet laid on an in-situ elastomeric shockpad. All markings and testing were set to comply with international hockey standards. The playing surface was specified green with a terracotta run-off surround. The tennis facility was also laid on an engineered base but incorporated a prefabricated shockpad to facility MUGA use.
Fencing was designed to include overall security fencing, ball catch netting and internal spectator fencing. Floodlight columns were specified as collapsible for ease of maintenance.
The project involved the diversion of a large culvert.
