Primark, Derry-Londonderry
Taylor & Boyd LLP provided structural engineering services for the design of a major new-build retail outlet on a sloping site in a city-centre location. The structure is of 3-storey reinforced concrete flat slab design with columns on a maximum grid spacing of 7.2m x 9m.
The columns and site boundary walls are founded on the underlying site rock. Retaining structures are used to the side and rear elevations to retain ex-buildings and footways.
Full structural engineering services were provided for the design of all foundations, retaining walls, flat slabs, shear walls, columns, retail delivery & loading bay areas and sundry structural steel work frames for staff accommodation at roof level.
Taylor & Boyd also provided some civil engineering advice on the scheme for the HGV movements to & from the integral loading bay of the building and further advice on the footpaths & street levels around the site.
