St Mary’s GAC, Banagher
This sports hall houses an indoor 3G synthetic pitch for Gaelic games. It was designed with a structural steel frame and concrete floor slab. The internal clear height is 7.5m, its external eaves being more than 10m above ground.
The 2-storey element of the building is constructed using load-bearing masonry with loose steel beams and precast 1st-floor and flat-roof slabs. It houses a gym and fitness studio, changing rooms and club meeting facilities on the ground floor and a plant room on first floor.
The block at the side has an in-situ reinforced concrete ground bearing floor slab.
It was necessary for the site to remain operational throughout the contract with construction works isolated from the pitches and clubhouse, which were kept in daily use.
