Environmental and Sustainability reviews are integral to every job Taylor & Boyd runs. They are led by our trained assessor for Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award Scheme (CEEQUAL). We operate Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 on all projects, certified by SGS. Considerations include potential gas emissions, removal/containment of contaminants, recycling materials including greywater, energy efficiency, the impact on flora & fauna, minimised removal of demolition spoil and ground material, etc. Life cycle costing is always considered.
Health & Safety has been maintained at high levels in T&B’s work for over 50 years. We conform to OHSAS 18001, an audited standard which is certified annually and which is so established in our ethos and practice that we are often appointed to oversee Health & Safety in the role of CDMC or PSDP. Because of our regard to risk management and Health & Safety, we have a record of accident-free projects. We carefully consider all H&S issues and clarify these with the Client/Design Team, and/or by surveys. A risk register includes analyses of probability and severity and how issues are to be managed. When designing structures Health & Safety is central and our independent, in-house engineering consultant interrogates and endorses all drawings/specifications before use. We manage the site rigorously and control the interface between contractors and operating facilities. The quality and progress of construction are inspected at regular site visits, and through snagging as completion is approached. Information relating to risk assessment is collated for the Health & Safety File. This file provides the client/owner/end-user with a record of all risks minimised and managed from inception to handover; it also contains advice relating to the whole-life maintenance and operation of facilities.
